Superweapon buildings
As the ultimate lategame building, we should have superweapons to finish the tech tree.
Each of the superweapons should be able to be aimed by the player and not auto-fired.
Examples:
- Big nuke in a nuke silo
- Acid grenade rapid fire gun (Like a big grenade launcher aiming in the sky)
- Earthquake generating sonar wave building thingy

I like the idea and there are different ways how it could work either as player skills or it could require you to fire the weapon from the building itself. But like the other poster said we would also need something to use those weapons against. Also will these work planet-wide or only on the map, they are built? However, I could see this being a nice feature in combination with some of the other suggestions like biome bosses or and AI base. Looking at some of the suggestions I can see a full RTS style DLC/Expansion happening. -

Piotr Bomak AdminIf I get it right - should these buildings add skills to the player arsenal and not act like standard defensive towers? I like the idea.

Tilk-HeroDEFENDER:
Giant Drone what have slow speed and have absolute arsenal - big Cannons, plasma, rockets, etc. Have very much time for building and very high cost. Need time for recharge and can returning to base for it after fight.
THE WORM:
Giant driller tool with long length. This tentacle-mechanoid pop up under enemies and fall to them with hit wave what damage enemies. The Worm have some types on attack - bend over and whirl on enemies for kill them, catch and throw most big enemies, Using some shooting weapon for giant turrel, ets. When taking critical damage - dive under ground and return to base for repair (automaticaly using resources and energy).
Guys, the superweapon is interesting game thing, but you have nothing seriously for force players to use it. Usual 2-3 lines of walls, usual stacks of towers and 2-3 Superplasma cannons can defend the base on any difficult vs any waves. Need something more dangerous than actual creatures rush for using the superweapon. Something epic. -

Kurt HeilGiant lazzzeerrr of doom Muwahahahahaha but seriously maybe create a large tower that acts as a base which starts with just a fog of war reveal but then you can upgrade slash modify it with additional subsystems radar, guns, etc. That way you can just update the towers you build instead of having to replace them.

DarkICE09What about a heavy rail cannon? You can set the power output to expand the width of the laser but the beam originates from the tower and goes across the entire map. If you aren't careful the tower might eat ALL of your base's energy resurve.

HorwardWhat do we think of endgame scientific buildings? You could send a drone to an area and have it scan every rock/tree/creature it finds.
Maybe a drill that can slowly dig deeper to find underground springs and fill a pool or moat that you specify.
Perhaps a building that provides smaller mech that follows you around and provides scanning/repair/shielding with a long build up and cooldown. -

DragonoidsixShould the Superweapons be able to be fired between Zones?
Like say from the HQ to the Acid Zone etc.
It's suppose to be a powerful weapon. I feel it would be a great addition and an awesome use for it. You have a build cap of one Superweapon, but you can fire it at any Region or Zone you are in.
Limitation: Can only build 1 superweapon. Has a long recharge time.
Upgrading: Each level you go up would reduce cooldown and/or increase AOE Radius -

SpatulaThere is absolutely no point to this. Once you reach end game and get the T3 Artillery Towers placed in a few spots around the map backed up by batteries of fusion power plants, you instantly obliterate everything on the map. The Sword, the hand held nuke launcher and the grenade launcher will literally allow you to solo everything on maps you do not have access to your base defenses on.
As it stands, no further weapons or towers are needed, especially not 'super' weapons. Not unless enemies are buffed to 5000% difficulty. My average waves in my game are already four times the strength of the portal activation wave and nothing even reaches the walls, and that's just using less than 20 of the towers we currently have access to.
I really feel adding this to the game would be extremely detrimental to the overall fun. We have the handheld nuke launcher. That's your super weapon. Not unless the enemies are rapidly scaled to match would this be a useful addition to the game. -

MThere's absolutely no point for superweapons in this game.
The moment you can afford one, you're already strong enough to use the base game's weapons to destroy every threat your way, and then some.
Adding superweapons also means you need to add super bosses into waves. -

RainLike tying Orbital Bombardment and Orbital Laser into a defensive structure to be used by the player? I don't like that these seem to magically come from no where when I need to build 5 Communications Hubs to download stuff.

ArcBlueSo...
Like, blow up an entire map with one shot? What is the use of such a thing? We already have orbital bombardment and orbital laser that will mass kill anything that they hit and require the player to aim and set it off without any "auto-shoot".
This sounds like something my nephew would like though... of course he is only 5. -

steveThere are super weapons in the game? I haven't seen a single one yet, and I've played through the story.
