Fauna migration patterns and trickle of enemies from map border
The map itself feels very static as enemies never move away from their spawns, and no new enemies ever enter the map outside of waves (And certain rock enemies).
Adding some routes for the fauna to move along will make it feel more dynamic. A small trickle of enemies from the map edges (Think zombies from They are Billions) that slowly more around the map, or attacks you, or just slowly repopulates killed fauna, will also make the world feel far more alive.

KilltechYes!
Please be aware that it would also provide much more interesting gameplay when mobs can appear at unusual locations. Currently one can build very focused defense on a few points around the edges of the map and because mobs do converge towards these defenses, it doesn't take too much effort to defend the entire map.
I also realized that the no-build zone around the map edges should be expanded. Being allowed to build defenses such that enemies practically spawn within the range of defense towers is bad and makes the game too easy. -

peteI love the idea of mobs moving around instead of just waiting to be killed! This is awesome. They could also interact with each other, like be territorial or something.

JHammerocerous stampede, Kermon war band, infestation of neutral critters and a swarm of monsters after them, bug enemies attacking from underground in your base anywhere that isn't paved rather than at the edge of the map. Just a few ideas for variety with the normal monster attacks
