Make night time more dangerous and scary!
Night time should be more "dark and dangerous" than it is now. At the moment, night time is just an inconvenience (no solar power).
Ideas: more dangerous, faster enemies roam the biomes at night (ultra variants, or new nocturnal creatures) which deter you from leaving the safety of your base. Towers have reduced range.
Night should be a time for Mr Riggs to retreat to the safety of the base, or get ready for some serious fights. You're all alone on a hostile alien planet full of creatures trying to kill you! Night time should be scary!
You could have missions that occur only at night, such as "kill the nests" missions. Then the player has to weigh up the choice of leaving the nest until the day (but the base getting attacked during the night), or brave the stronger enemies to destroy the nests quickly.
This gameplay option is disabled on Easy difficulty by default. Also have it as a custom game option "Night time terrors: On/Off" in custom survival/campaign.

@Vladimir, I am certainly not suggesting reducing visibility of the game for the player!
I am simply proposing that the night-time enemies are stronger, faster, have more HP, and that towers have reduced range (maybe half), and that objectives deliberately spawn at night. -

srs008i do want the night to be a little dangerous. the towers reduced range can be a simple "is illuminated" check on weapons targeting i suppose. if illuminated, the gun can fire at full range.
if not, it has to be spotted, or be in around half the range before firing. (do not include short range towers)
a radar lock can work for reduced accuracy. each radar at around the edge of it's range to the actual tower, increases accuracy if they are decently seperate (think like fluid pumps)
this could be done on placement of either object. and the calculation only needs to happen the once, so it can be used as a accuracy modifier for both night and day. night is less accurate, but not too much so.
as for the enemies. for one, the invisible snakes being a lot more numerous and active would make life harder.
it should be a different sort of experience, promoting the lifecycle of the planet's growth.
it does feel like the dark is kind of too tame though. -

VladimirI like this game for its beauty. I don't want to kill my eyes and peer into the darkness. Not everyone has good expensive monitors.
Please add the ability to disable these changes in the settings in case of introduction.
We can already Make the maximum difficulty (higher damage from monsters and less HP of buildings). And on the map include only the night. -

broMaybe make a bat-type enemy that could also appear in the DLC during the day but appear on top when its night
