Increase of overall difficulty and challenge.
I know there is end game update this and will do this in a way but i want to mention this again in here and share some more ideas about if it is not planned.
Most of the issue about the game is not being able use your tech and the power you gain in mid and late game. When you start a game in hard difficulty you will most of hard times in early game and when you reach to the some kind of level in the rest wont be a problem for you at all.So this suggestion is all about this , solving the overall difficulty so we can have hard time in a the game all the time. Think about our situation , make plans , strategies so it wont be a boring experience. I want to keep it short so this is it.
I hope you guys can make this happen. This is really most important stuff for me about the game , i want to go back play hopefully when we have this.

I would think that there can be a lesson learned from modding success around games like Terraria: Calamity Mod. The higher difficulty gives some longevity, but it should be toggleable pre-game, unlockable as a sort of NG+ mode, or activatable in-game. Players of Calamity can choose the difficulty, or gain access to brutal levels of difficulty by activating an object in-game. Calamity gives the player the object at the beginning, but I would think players could unlock it in the tech tree seeing as players who would want it are likely to reach endgame anyways.
I think it would pair nicely with sort of freeplay sandbox mode that triggers random mission objectives, or at least a sort of mission hub players can engage with from a selection of campaign scenarios. -

VortexEven on brutal 500% the (story campaign) game gets too easy at the later stages (the first few waves are pretty intense though).
Nothing can even reach your walls when you have a fully built up base in the later stages.
This can't be solved with _more_ enemies (the lag is already bad) but you need harder/tougher enemies.
More hp, more resistances and/or new types of enemies. Flying, tunneling, teleporting etc to bypass your normal defence. -

RinshunStronger monsters and also not always spawn the same monsters, so we can't just spam random towers and make it work.

i can't imagine how to play with friend when multiplayer comes out. -

Mordricgive me that true brutal danger that can actully put me in danger despite having a proper wall up
make it so dangerous that there would be a point to having a 2nd or even 3rd and 4th line of defence
but not because it has x100 health bars and x100 dmg
but because small units dont get blocked by the large ones
and the large ones shields the small ones from arty(unless its the nuke arty then just get F)
and them wall ignoring towering barstards thats shits or your walls for the fun of it before finding your juicy ass towers to chew on
the killgore have my interests as the mix things up somehow gimme some more
let me campaign with my outposts actully getting attacked
let me get attacked more

but in a fair way and i know thats alot to ask so just drown me in monsters from all directions if nothing else works
also make them have a random 3 to 20 spawn points please
the current 3-4 from only 1 direction is just too easy
