Yes! Let me remove rocks, please! Even if it's only the smaller ones like those smaller than 10x10 squares (20x20 metres) or so. I'd agree that it'd be silly to let us blow up the huge formations, but the smaller ones, it's silly that these can't be taken care of. We've been getting rid of pesky rocks in real-life since dynamite was invented and with the level of technology that mankind has access to in the game universe, it should be easy! -

You can Rift jump though time and space but.. Rocks, Pits are immovable obstacles? -

MikeI would also add the ability to build up rocks and dig pits. Just landscaping in general. Also, making plateaus and pits accessible would take gameplay to a whole new level (pun intended).

Jo ElIf we would be able to 'build' rocks and dig pits, wouldn't the game become too easy?
THEN AGAIN why not make certain enemies who are good at crawling etc be able to go through those + more different enemies (perhaps even delete one or two of the old ones and then add 4 different species, 2 of which could fly in the first biome etc...) -

JWhile full terrain modification would indeed make the game too easy, I just want to nuke some of the smaller boulders and rock formations so they don't mess up my base layout.

JustSomeGuyIf pits and rocks become removable, maybe there should be random events that create them as well.

TheoAllenI personally like the terrain as is, as it would create a strategic base building. If implemented at all, I would probably not gonna use it.
Also while we are at it, why not as well as adding liquid removal? -

Kurt HeilYes Please Rocks are annoying. I'd also love the ability to dig trenches for defense.

Lord Hovadopossibility to add rocks make a game to easy. why build walls then? rocks are indestructible and monsters can not pass them. removing will be enough

ezah desafwhy not make it a resource, you remove rocks and boulders to gain stone, and then you can use that stone to fill in liquid and pits and if you want to terraform your whole map you need to go to several areas to get enough stone a complete map so your limited on how many maps you can terraform and if you want to make more liquid pools, you can use any liquids you have available on that map or have transported to that map (balancing needed cos magma in jungle?!) but you need a huge amount to map a pool.

Sir AledenfusTbh I'm just good allowing us to only remove rocks. The 2/3 little things that I found subject of quality life on my run, one fo them were the random rocks inside my base that were just occupying space more than anything. i think allowing player to ONLY destroy rocks rather than terraforming would solve both problems of allowing players to get rid of minor inconvinient rocks inside base and avoiding players to just creat mazes for optimal easy defense.

Piotr Bomak AdminWe would love to have this feature. However, it's a really big one - for now it's 'under consideration', but likely to change.

dcvinyou2dayI think that terraforming could be a great addition. Gathering sludge for filling in pits and using explosives to take out rocks. I have mods that remove the rocks already but the pesky floating trees are always an annoyance. I think even the removal of the larger trees and stuff should be allowed with adequate firepower.
Should the idea of rock removal be considered I would think that any items upon those rocks should be removed as well.
I also think that adding in water and sludge ponds by design would be nice as well, just put requirements on the pumps that a min. size of pool is required so people cant cheese the pumps. -

ChrisDestroying large rock formations/ridges would be nice, but I feel it should be an end-tier research involving uranium. That limits it to players who are already fairly far along & thus likely have a large sprawling base that they'd like to better organize.
Being able to fully "pump out" a liquid pit would be interesting, and perhaps a resource-costly floor (which covers the entire empty pit and cannot be deconstructed) could then be built.
I don't think that players should have the ability to construct rocks or pits or any other feature that cannot be damaged by enemy units. -

Piotr Bomak AdminWe are not planning to introduce changes when it comes to modifying the terrain in The Riftbreaker. The main problem here is navigation - units use the navigation mesh to plan their route around the map and that navmesh is created during map loading. Unfortunately, it is impossible to make dynamic changes to that. It would be very cool, but it is impossible under our current system.

PaladestarDisappointing to hear that this feature request won't be happening now. Your answer as to why not is a bit of a cop-out.
Co-op wasn't possible with your original game systems, so you changed them to make it possible. Isn't this expected of feature requests? They don't just magically happen, someone needs to change the game code to implement them. This tells me that if there is the will, on your side, to implement a change, it can happen. Just be honest, instead of hiding behind spurious logic, this change won't happen because you feel it goes against your vision for how the game should be played.
