New Resources
What kind of resources should we enable you to use? What kind of benefits are they going to lead to?

I enjoy the special resources (hazenite etc) that you can grow later on. Perhaps having some kind of limited resource that can replace others? Or a combination resource to make the very top end equipment/buildings?
Or special weapons that are very powerful but use a very limited resource (say only found from destroying hives, or as part of special resource extraction missions such as in the expanded campaign thread?) -

Piotr Bomak Admin PinnedWe added two new types of liquid resources: Morphium in World Expansion I and Fungal Resin in World Expansion III.

CypherI won't upvote because I think we already have sufficient diverse resources.
That said, I believe if people truly wanted new resources, it should be done in a limited way, like very rare, or 'one time to get' resources. You use these to make a choice in building/research to unlock a very powerful upgrade. (You can only have one).
This would go very good together with special (side) missions that will make use of all Mr.Riggs has to offer, and very limited base building (maybe only power and turrets).
So special mission unlocks rare recourse > use resources to unlock powerful 1 time per game upgrade/power/weapon/building etc.
This opens the way for new recources to be used in a fun (to me at least haha) way without having to incorporate this into all of the existing ones, creating maybe too many 'standard' ones and cluttering buildings and game flow. -

ShifterI agree with Cypher that new resources should probably not be mineral. I think it would be cool to have cores/special organic "parts" from creatures like samples that can be used as a special component in crafting or construction!

Killtech1. A resource related to weapon mods - probably recycled from from unwanted mods. Should be usable to modify towers and maybe also economy buildings but in a more convenient way. It should be constrained such that we cannot just farm it easily in infinite amounts like all other resources. The resource could be also used to craft new weapon mods for Mr. Riggs consuming also the 4 special resources (e.g. hazenite) which have little use outside of crafting.
2. Also what about super coolant? The resource exists but has barely any relevant use at all. It should be used as an optional buff resource for many buildings. Make it so it's required for the top tier towers only deal their their full damage potential when properly cooled. Energy output from fusion generators should also be buffed using it.
3. A research/scanning samples could be viewed as resources as well. Maybe specific plant/animal samples would be needed for crafting specific weapons mod types crafting? -

TheoAllenI agree with Killtech on their second point. I barely use super coolant. IIRC, super coolant uses Titanium, which is kind of limited. And I hate to use limited resources for upkeep. Granted, I can just spam titanium farm, but still ... an optional renewable resource for super coolant is welcomed.
If we combine several of the available suggestions
- A new renewable resource upkeep for super coolant might be available in the Artic biome (new biome). I'm not sure what would that be though.
- A new bigger defensive tower is a close-mid-range piercing laser tower that requires super coolant to operate (Kind of like Meltdown from Mindustry). -

danyzzzzI'm not really in favor of adding new resources; existing ones are already quite numerous.
On the other hand, some resources, such as magma or morphium are totally underused (2 structures for morphium and 1 for magma)... While there are many possibilities to use them with new ideas.
Example :
- A 2x2 tower that uses pipelined magma to devastate enemies, either as a jet or as powerful artillery fire with very large area damage
- Metal Valley Pilone X-Morph which could become buildable and synthesize morphium directly to slipspace, ready to decompress elsewhere
- An ammo factory using morphium to produce ammo for towers and the Riftbreaker
- A synthesizer of rare materials from a consumption of morphium and another material (example: morphium + Ferronium = Titanium)
- A plant that transforms carbonium into raw Uranium using magma transported by pipelines
Etc... there are plenty of ideas... -

Mordrichaving bosses drop a 'core' for super[thing] would be a cool resource
ofcause with the added we cant lose it permanently only til we rebuild/repair or otherwise recover it
